UAE Rental Requirements

Valid License & Emirates ID / Passport
UAE Residents must present a valid Emirates ID and UAE Driving License. Tourists need their original Passport, Entry Visa stamp, Home Country Driving License, and (depending on nationality) an International Driving Permit.
Age requirements
The minimum age to rent a standard vehicle is 21 years. For premium SUVs and luxury vehicles, the minimum age is 25 years.
Credit card authorization
A valid credit card in the primary driver's name is legally required to block the security deposit. Cash or debit cards cannot be used for the security block.

Tolls & Traffic Fines

How Salik & DARB work
Our cars have automated toll tags. You do not need to stop. A fee of ~5 AED per crossing (includes admin fee) will be deducted from your security deposit after your rental ends.
Speeding & Traffic Fines
The renter is 100% responsible for all traffic fines incurred during the rental period. Fines will be charged to your credit card along with a 10% administrative processing fee.
Paying for Mawaqif Parking
Public parking in Abu Dhabi (Mawaqif) and Dubai (RTA) must be paid by the driver via SMS, apps, or payment machines to avoid ticketing.

Insurance & Accidents

Mandatory Police Reports
By UAE law, you cannot repair a car without a Police Report. Call 999 or use the Saaed app immediately for ANY damage or scratch. Without a report, you pay the full repair cost.
What CDW covers
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) limits your liability if the car is damaged, provided you have a valid Police Report. It typically does not cover tires, windshields, or undercarriage damage.
Off-road driving policy
Driving off-road, on beaches, or dune bashing in the desert is strictly prohibited and instantly voids all insurance. You will be fully liable for all recovery and repair costs.

Fuel & Mileage

Fuel Policy
We operate on a "Same-to-Same" policy. You must return the vehicle with the exact same level of fuel it had when you collected it. Missing fuel will be charged at a premium rate.
Mileage limits
Standard rentals include 250km per day or 4,500km per month. Excess mileage is charged on a per-kilometer basis upon return.
Oman border crossing
Crossing into Oman requires prior written approval (NOC) from First Cars and the purchase of specific cross-border insurance at least 48 hours in advance.

Deposits & Payments

Security deposit refund timeline
Deposits are blocked on your credit card and released after 21-30 days. This delay is mandatory because UAE traffic fines from other emirates can take weeks to register in the central police system.
Accepted payment methods
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express for rental payments. However, a physical Credit Card (not debit) is strictly required for the deposit block.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation is available up to 48 hours before your booking. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged the equivalent of one full rental day.

Delivery & Returns

Airport & Hotel delivery
We offer convenient delivery to Abu Dhabi and Dubai International Airports, as well as major hotels. Advance notice is required and delivery fees may apply.
Late return periods
We offer a 2-hour grace period for returns. Returning the vehicle more than 2 hours late will result in a charge for an additional full day.
Vehicle inspection process
Our team will conduct a thorough photo/video inspection with you at pickup. We highly encourage you to take your own photos of the fuel gauge and car exterior before driving off.
